Medical Camp. A Story about Kids who want nothing, but Protein Powder!

We kicked off the fall-2022 projects with a medical camp—not the kid’s favorite, but keep reading to learn how they snuck upon us. One hundred and thirty-four people came to the camp looking for a medical check and for medicines.

It was a slow start. Many thought there was a catch to the free check and the medicines. Who wouldn’t? After all we were strangers coming into their space, but this did not stop us. We were on a mission for a great camp. We went into many people’s homes and put our persuasive skills into action. We, eventually, got a few takers, and the magic was done. Word quickly spread, and soon lines started appearing, so we were back in business!

When doing medical camps, we usually meet one or two people who need serious medical attention. When this happens, we make the necessary arrangements to transport them to a medical facility and cover all the medical expenses needed for the treatment. We can never forget the state we once found two children in the slums. Both got severely burned while playing with their siblings (read Ali Khan’s story). Luckily, we found them, and actions were taken. We are happy to report that no significant cases were found during this camp.

But lets get back to the story about the kids and their sneaky business!

Halfway through the camp, we noticed that many kids were coming with their parents, and surprisingly they seemed happy and excited about it. It did not take long for us to understand this sudden attraction. One of the medicines given at the camp was a high-protein chocolate powder used for making drinks. This powder is normally prescribed to children showing significant signs of malnutrition, which is—unfortunately—not uncommon in these communities. Next time we will consider using this special powder as a special tool to lure customers into our camps.

With this, we’ll like to end our story by thanking everyone for supporting our projects. We are nothing in this business without you. We will continue to support camps as long as you want.
