A lot of families with limited resources live in or near dumping grounds. Families choose these sites because it gives them access to recyclable material such as bottles, cans, paper, cardboard, etc. These are materials which can be sold for profit. Unfortunately, the sale of such materials is not enough to properly support an entire family. The majority of these families are not able to afford, for example, the proper footwear required for the environment they are exposed to on a daily basis. This creates a significant health risk.
