A significant number of children living in the slums do not attend school. These children spend most of the day either working or roaming around the streets. A few local residents have invested their time and effort to provide these children with an opportunity to free education. The budget for this education however, is very limited. In most cases it only covers the salary of the teachers (approximately $90 per month). Children spend approximately five hours seating on the floor and do not have the proper school supplies. With the support gathered we were are able to provide one lucky group with chairs and tables to cover their students. We were also able to provide the children pencils, crayons, notebooks and coloring books.
